[REVIEWS] Miley Closes Tour With Rendition Of Gorillaz Song

Miley Cyrus closed the final show of her Gypsy Heart tour in Perth, Australia with a special rendition of “On Melancholy Hill”, a song originally recorded by Gorillaz.

The song was a special performance for two of her back-up dancers that apparently met while working for Miley. In the video(see below) she explains that it’s their last tour before they get married. I’m not at all familiar with the Gorillaz version but Miley’s version is pleasant enough. It sounds a little retro and Miley’s raspy vocals give this song the much needed emotion and flare. This song received rave reviews from the audience with a cheering crowd.

I love how Miley isn’t afraid to occasionally stray from her pop roots and try out something different. I’m not really certain what genre Gorillaz is grouped with, but this song was a departure from her usual pop sound. I can see Miley growing into another genre like folk-rock or perhaps country(just like her dad!). In the meantime, I really hope that Miley releases a special album of cover songs like former teen singer Mandy Moore years ago. What do you think of Miley’s rendition of “On Melancholy Hill”?
