Hello again!

We went to Clinton Global Initiative September 19th thru 22nd. It was a very successful meeting for The Starkey Hearing Foundation. Once again it was a whirlwind of amazing people trying to do good work around the world. Sister Rosemary was there from Uganda.  Bill, Brady and I introduced her to as many influential people as we could, including Forrester Whittaker, Margaret Albright, Toyota Foundation and even Donna Karen—who is going to buy purses made at Sister’s compound.

At the end of the meeting she ended up with better seats than ours yet we sponsored the meeting!  She is a rock star in this arena, a champion for her cause—as Bill is to ours.  They’re kindred spirits, these two. We came back home to Starkey Family Technology meetings, birthdays and no down time!

While I was on tour in South America, I visited the Blessings in a Backpack program in Bogota, Colombia. My relationship with Blessings began in 2008, when I started my own school feeding program in Kentucky; feeding hundreds of children each year. I believe strongly in how Blessings improves children’s lives, so I wanted to speak with the Bogota government leaders and demonstrate how important it is to help children in their community and encourage them to succeed in school so they can have better futures. I really loved meeting the kids and telling them how important their educational success is to me. Take a look at my pictures from the trip!

Starkey Hearing Foundation Gala

Hi!

I had an incredible time at the Starkey Hearing Foundation Gala last month! I was surrounded by so many positive people with a passion for doing good. In February, I went on my first mission with Starkey to Haiti and felt truly blessed to be a part of it. Seeing the kids we brought hearing aids to hear again was an amazing experience. I’m getting my own good on for Breast Cancer Awareness Month with City of Hope and Sharpie. During October, I’m challenging my friends and especially all of you on Get Ur Good On to “Ink it Pink” by posting an autograph in pink Sharpie to the Sharpie Uncapped website http://www.sharpieuncapped.com/. For every Pink autograph posted to the site, Sharpie will donate $1 to City of Hope’s work to fight breast cancer.
