With the rumor mill in full swing that Britney Spears and Demi Lovato are in line to join the judging table at “The X Factor,” the show appears to be turning its attention to the hosting duties. And the latest word has it that Miley Cyrus may just be a candidate.

HollywoodLife.com is reporting that Cyrus could be one of the two people to take over for the fired Steve Jones. EP Simon Cowell has previously stated that it is his goal to have a male and female co-host for the singing competition.

“She may not be the fourth judge but she may be the host,” a source tells the publication. “The new Steve Jones may be Miley Cyrus. Simon Cowell likes Demi and Miley and wants them both and she is considering it.”

Cyrus had previously been rumored to be under consideration for a judging position. But since then, Lovato has become a leading contender.

At just 19, Cyrus would be the youngest host of any of the shows in the genre. “American Idol” personality Ryan Seacrest is 37 while Carson Daly of “The Voice” is 38. Quddus, 31, will host ABC’s “Duets.”

Miley Cyrus got the shaft. So did Demi Moore, Ashley Greene Golden Globe nominated actor Thomas Jane and Hollywood legend Marlo Thomas. Lions Gate Entertainment Corpleft them all twisting in the wind.

The film studio pulled the rug out from under their movie, “LOL: Laughing Out Loud,” to focus on block busters.

While the actors, crew and director Lisa Azuelos-Alessandrin, were all hurt by the studio, Miley is bearing the brunt of this fiasco because the picture was a starring vehicle for her.

It’s a shame because LOL may not be an Academy Award contender, but it’s certainly on par with any of the rom-coms Jennifer Aniston has cranked out. The French version, also directed by Azuelos, was a smash hit.

But it never got the support required to launch a successful movie. Lionsgate did virtually no marketing. Not surprising since it was struggling itself, and on the verge of a hostile takeover by corporate raider Carl Ichan.

It acquired the U.S. distribution rights from Mandate Pictures in Oct. 2010, while it was under Ichan’s assault. Mandate was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lionsgate, operating as an independent brand. LOL marked the first collaboration between the two, according to Variety.

We knew the chances for this one were slim, but now that the results are in, it’s sort of epic.

Miley Cyrus’ film “LOL,” made a total of only $46,500 this weekend, Movie City News estimates. That is just a few hundred dollars more than what “Marvel’s The Avengers” — which drew a record-breaking weekend total of more than $200 million — took in per theater: $46,100, according to MCN.

Sure, it had a much narrower release, appearing in only 105 theaters nationwide, but “LOL” made less per-theater ($440) than any other film in conventional U.S. theaters this weekend, running behind “Wrath of the Titans,” which made $640 per theater (and has been out for more than a month).

Cyrus is already on damage control. Today she tweeted:

“My guess is Lionsgate had test screenings that were catastrophic,” says box office analyst Len Klady of “LOL”‘s weak weekend reception, adding that he wasn’t aware of any conventional advertising going on. Indeed, the film did not have a premiere event and Cyrus did no interviews with major outlets for “LOL,” indicating much-curtailed — if non existent — publicity. Moreover, the film was not screened for review, leading one journalist to say, “…for all we know, ‘LOL’ stands for lack of laughter. Proceed with caution.”

Miley rescued an abandoned puppy only a couple of days ago, she’s granted over 150 wishes with the Make-A-Wish foundation, she covered a Bob Dylan song for the Amnesty International charity, and she took her time to visit Haiti last year with the Starkey Hearing Foundation. This poor pooch was left alone outside of a Walmart today. Thankfully singer Miley Cyrus found him and took him under her wing. Whew!

“Yes :( he was left in a box Infront of Walmart. I don’t understand how people can be so cruel. That’s why we named him Happy,” she tweeted back to a fan.

From that point on, Happy started to lead a much happier life—he and his new celeb owner were groomed and pampered in true Hollywood style and he’s already jumped into a serious, monogamous relationship with a cutie named Joey.

According to Cyrus’ tweets, “he’s a little boy were not 100% the breed were think Rottweiler Beagle mix :)”

Regardless, Happy is one adorable addition to the fam, and what Miley did was pretty cool, y’all.
